David Černý

Arguably the most famous contemporary Czech visual artist, born in 1967, he enriches both the audience and the art world with original ideas that demonstrate both the breadth of his talent and the potential of contemporary art. Since Pink Tank and Walking Trabant, he has been brilliantly swirling the surface of art for three decades, constantly surprising us with the wit, cleverness and originality of his work. He captures in his artistic nets even those who are normally light years away from contemporary art. With Entropa, he urged officials and politicians not to take themselves so seriously during the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and he teased athletes with a zigzagging bus during the London Olympics. His implementations are scattered all over the world. His sculpture In Utero, a large kneeling pregnant female figure, is currently on display at the Hostivař Golf Gallery.
