František Svátek

František Svátek first studied at the School of Nuclear Technology in Prague (finished in 1963), then at the Secondary School of Sculpture and Stonemasonry in Hořice (finished in 1968) and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (1968-1973), the branch of sculpture-restoration. In 1974, he left initially for Rome, but was granted exile in Germany (January 1975). In 1976, he again returned as a scholarship holder of Instituto Centrale del Restauro to Rome and participated in restoration of the local frescoes and mosaics. After returning to Germany (1978), he dedicated himself to stone restoration. In 1981 and 1982, he taught sculpture techniques at the University of Kassel. In 1984, he moved to Italy. In 1985 and 1986, he worked as a teacher in Centro Europeo per la Conservazione del Patrimonio Architettonico in Venice. Since 1999, he has been permanently living in the Czech Republic.
