Pavel Roučka

Pavel Roučka is a sought-after painter of the older generation who is stubbornly following his own artistic path. Its starting point can be found in the late modernism of the 1960s and 1970s. It was then that Roučka was looking for a personal painterly expression combining a more expressive handwriting with the creation of pictorial imagery that drew on both highly stylized figurative reality and on past stages of art and various abstract pictorial models. However, the clear creative intention is to create a specific pictorial world - the resulting work is intended to be a painterly re-creation. Pavel Roučka is also a skilled draughtsman and creator of graphic sheets. He lives and works alternately in Prague and Desná in the Jizera Mountains.
