Richard Kočí

Richard Kočí

*1954

He began his work in 1972 by creating small realistic figures. Then he studied at art schools in Texas and Madrid. As a sculptor, he first gained experience from the study of classics of the 20th century, such as Hans Arp, Constantin Brancusi and Henry Moore. But he did not do a lot of sculptures after that.

He also studied the theory of art - general art questions, such as the meaning of the work of art, its content, meaning or mission. In the 1990s Kočí appears in Prague and creates the first wooden sculptures. He prefers sculptures of larger dimensions, he feels it sets him free. A larger format also allows sculpture to fulfill its mission and fill the space, preferably the public space.
