Mírové náměstí
Jablonec nad Nisou is a city of culture and sports. The town is rich in Art Nouveau architecture and is home to the School of Applied Arts, where graphics, sculptures, coins and medals are created. There are various art objects, sculptures and reliefs from renowned artists from the past in the centre and on the outskirts of the city. A large metal sculpture of a sickle and a hammer, a symbol of that time, stood in front of the town hall in the Mírové náměstí square throughout the period of socialism. Thanks to its involvement in the Sculpture Line Festival, Jablonec has the opportunity once again to use the vacant pedestal to offer modern art to the city and its visitors. Thanks to its artist, the statue called Sitting Figure is a symbolic interconnection of the artistic and sporting world that is so typical of Jablonec.
