In 1992 – 97, Jaroslav Koléšek studied in the Studio of Sculpture at the Department of Fine Arts of the Faculty of Education of the University of Ostrava (M. Kotrba, S. Hanzík). He completed his doctoral studies at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica in 2012. Since 2014, he has been working as associate professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Ostrava, where he has been leading the Studio and the Department of Sculpture since 2011. He is the winner of the Václav Chad’s Award (2003, 3rd Zlín Youth Salon) and the Rudolf Schlattauer’s Award (2010).

Two underwater war machines resting at the bottom. They are captured in a petrified moment of gentle gesture. Stylized submarines are personification of living creatures and their fleeting touch. Once armoured cases are becoming a sandstone sediment. The natural, industrial and human element is balanced.
